Wildfire Prevention Ambassador Program
Wildfire Prevention Ambassadors
Glacier View Fire Protection District’s Wildfire Prevention Ambassador Program is run by local volunteers. They empower community members to make their homes and properties more wildfire resilient. Trained and supported by Larimer County’s Wildfire Partners Program, Ambassadors meet with property owners at no charge and give recommendations for mitigating their properties to better withstand wildfires.
Ambassadors are highly trained and use tools provided by the Larimer County Wildfire Partners Program
and the Colorado State Forest Service’s Home Ignition Zone checklist as guidance. Ambassadors will only visit
properties when invited by property owners and when the owner(s) or designated representatives are present.
Ambassadors work with owners to evaluate structures and surrounding land and make recommendations to improve the property’s resilience to wildfire. The recommendations are summarized in an easy-to-understand report, at no charge to the property owner.
Results of the assessment are confidential and provided only to the homeowner. The homeowner can then provide them to real estate agents, insurance companies, or government agencies, if they desire.
Taking action on recommendations is up to the property owner. Nothing is required.
