Community Outreach & Education

Public events include:

     Firewise - A Community Fire Preparedness Event

          All-day event held at the Glacier View Fire Station (10 am – 2 pm)

          Features a variety of vendors who handle pre-fire issues, such as homeowners’ insurance companies,                            Colorado State Forest Service, environmental and fire restoration groups, tree services, first responders,                   and local agencies

                    Children’s activities (volunteer leaders wanted)

                    AirMed helicopter landing

                    YOU can be Smokey Bear!

                    Food and drink by donation provided by GVFPD and the Glacier Gals

 

Community Evacuation Drill

     Held in concert with Larimer County Office of Emergency Management (OEM)

     Residents can sign up to “practice” an evacuation

     Receive notice, grab go bag, and meet at evacuation meeting point, which is Drala Center

     Larimer County Office of Emergency Management will be coming up to practice mark houses for triage / fire           protection

     Vendors who handle post-fire issues such as disaster recovery

 

Glacier View Ecology Committee “Mountain Living Lecture” Talk

     Part of GVM summer Living Lecture series

     Held in Mary Keller Community Room below HOA office, open to anyone

     Topic will be “Five Years After Cameron Peak Fire”
